12 EASY WAYS TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF AND GIVE ALL YOU CAN TO BOOST YOUR CONFIDENCE

12 easy ways to motivate yourself and give all you can to boost your confidence

Yes, it is really true that life after 50 can become much more difficult than when we were younger, due to hormonal imbalance, and therefore many of us face the deterioration of our physical and mental health. But it is also a fact that many of us only manage to find time for ourselves after the children have left home which is normally when we are in our 50s.

On the other hand, life after 50 can be so much better because we have learnt from past mistakes, and at this time in our lives we do not actually care what others think. We are also strong enough not to let ourselves be manipulated or intimidated by the people around us. Therefore, I firmly believe that the 50s can be the best time of our life, because instead of wasting time with nostalgia and regrets, I believe that we can use this precious time to look inside ourselves and get to know ourselves better.

Ways To Motivate Yourself and Boost Your Confidence:

1. YOU have the power! Get to know yourself better.

2. Be willing to make changes.

3. Treat your living space with love and appreciation by keeping it clean, tidy and uncluttered.

4. Love and appreciate yourself so that others will appreciate you too, and accept your imperfections.

5. Be deeply grateful for everything you have, and then you will realise how blessed you are.

6. Take time to meditate on your achievements, not on your failures.

7. Practice mindfulness “Be aware of your thoughts”, because what you think really matters, “even 5 minutes a day can make a huge difference” to the quality of your life.

8. Daily affirmations. (Affirmations are positive statements you make about yourself that are repeated in order to change negative thought patterns.) Adopt the habit of changing your negative thoughts to positive ones.

9. Set boundaries in your relationships, including the way you treat yourself. Remember: You cannot fully respect anybody else if you do not have respect for yourself.

10. Always remember that Self-Love is a continuous process. Be patient, kind and respectful towards yourself. Then you will be able to share those amazing qualities with others around you.

11. Teach others to treat you with respect by giving them a good example of self-love and respect.

12. Listen to relaxing music “daily” and make sure the lyrics of your favourite music are not contradicting your goals. Example: “You are doing all you can to convince yourself that life is actually easier than you thought, then in your relaxing time you listen to music which has the lyrics “life is too difficult, dead people have less to worry about”. Which statement does your brain tend to believe more? When choosing music, “Be Mindful of the lyrics”

Convince yourself that you can take your life to the next level and believe in Your inner power!!

In my own experience, what I found very challenging was “Convincing myself” that I actually have the capacity to do the job of renewing my life’s purpose even “after I reached my 50s”. Yes, this journey can be scary, painful, and lonely sometimes, but I took that first step forward anyway. Did I feel the fear while taking the necessary steps to bring some purpose into my life? Yes, indeed I did feel fearful “almost every day”, but guess what: I did it anyway!!  Even if the best you can do is only a baby step, remember: a baby step is still a remarkable step “if a baby step is the only thing that you can do right now”. What helped me immensely, was my determination and consistency in taking a little step each day in a daily basis. “Without judging myself” and always allowing myself to correct my mistakes.

Yes, I felt paralysed sometimes, but I knew that if I allowed fear to consume my hopes and dreams, my life would be ruined forever. Then I kept asking myself: If not now, When? And the answer scared me enough, so I just kept moving towards achieving my goals and my life became much more meaningful and fulfilled. What kept me going was knowing that if I didn’t do anything about it, my lack of confidence and self-esteem would increase, and as a result it would be almost impossible for me to get my confidence back

I kept convincing myself: taking a little step each day is much better than doing nothing at all, just because I was afraid of making a move towards bringing some purpose into my life”. Yes, the unknown territory was even more scary than the mental misery I was facing at that time, because at least I knew where I was (my comfort zone). Meaning – It is better to deal with a person or situation I already know even if I don’t like it, rather than with a new person or situation that could be worse. And now, thinking back, I am so glad that I kept moving forward anyway!  Hope my own personal experience helped motivates you.
